Our procedure
Step by step
Preparation
The first step in our procedure is thorough preparation. It is essential that you bring all the necessary information and documents to your first appointment. Make sure you have the following with you:
- Identity cards of both parent(s) and child.
- For children without a (Belgian) identity card: the ISI+ card on which the child's national registration number is clearly legible.
- A referral letter or referral email (if applicable, including Rx) from the general dentist.
- A completed anesthesia questionnaire and a signed informed consent for the procedure.
- Proof of payment for the cost of admission and anesthesia, (these costs depend on the duration of the procedure and will be clearly communicated with you in advance).
At this stage, we make sure you are fully informed about what to expect.
Note: In case of urgent situations (and only when a referral letter from the general dentist is present), everything can be arranged by phone and/or e-mail. In this case, we perform an oral examination on the morning of the surgery and discuss the procedure and schedule with the parents.
Narcodontics Intake Consultation
- We will answer all your questions and provide detailed explanations of the rest of the process.
- An initial, non-invasive examination is performed to properly assess the situation.
- We will discuss the scheduling of any follow-up appointments or examinations.
- We provide practical tips on how to best prepare your child for the day of surgery.
The Narcodontics Interventions
During the Narcodontics procedure, we make sure that the treatment is as comfortable and stress-free as possible. Our procedure is always child-friendly and we take the time to explain each step calmly. During the procedure:
- If x-rays (Rx) were not taken during the visit to the general dentist, they will still be taken during the procedure.
- A thorough oral examination is performed at the time of anesthesia. Should there be a deviation from the referring dentist's original schedule, we discuss this with the parents first.
Completion and Aftercare
After the treatment, we take extensive time to evaluate the results and give you clear guidelines for aftercare. This may include the following:
- Advice on possible follow-up appointments.
- Explanation of care to be applied at home.
- A closing call to discuss the experience and address any concerns.
